You are at increased risk if you are above 50 years old, Asian, male, with type A blood group, has family history of the cancer, smokes, or eats a lot of smoked food, salted fish and meat, and pickled vegetables. (2, 3)
However, Gastric Cancer is curable when diagnosed at an early stage. More than 7 in 10 patients survived beyond 5 years of discovery of the cancer at Stage 1A. (1, 3)
